How we created an authentic butcher shop without expensive backdrops
It may sound unbelievable to turn a regular technical warehouse into an authentic butcher shop in a single day, but that's exactly what we did in our production for Usušil & syn, s.r.o. Our goal was to create a strong visual that would fit with the brand's character and highlight the craftsmanship of their premium cured meats. The challenge was that we had no professional backdrop, only our own space and limited resources.

How did we proceed?
We approached it creatively, with an emphasis on atmosphere, materials and light. We took advantage of our experience from a previous shoot for Notino, when we had already proven the power of thoughtful improvisation and that we can do it!
Improvised backdrops made of ordinary things
Instead of buying expensive decorations, we used a shelf from the technical warehouse. Its metal hanging proved to be the perfect backdrop to resemble meat racks. We also added elements from the kitchen to the space, such as shelving for spices and ingredients. In doing so, we created a believable backdrop for a local butcher shop. The result was not only visually striking, but also completely in line with the brand identity.

Working with light
The key element of the whole scene was the light. We used side lighting with warm light from LED panels, which created a “fresh meat” effect. With the right light direction and temperature, the whole scene looked as authentic as possible. Without the need for major digital editing or rental props.

Result
In a single day, we created a series of visually powerful photographs and dynamic reels that perfectly capture the character of the Usušil & son brand. The authenticity of the space, the warm lighting and the work with textures of flesh and metal gave the content an artisanal and natural expression. The resulting visual identity feels professional yet believable, without being overly stylized.
This approach not only strengthened the brand's credibility, but also showed that even with limited resources, it is possible to create content that stands up to competition from much more expensive productions. The resulting material can be used from social media, to a product website, to B2B presentations.
We showed that quality visuals don't necessarily have to cost tens of thousands, often all it takes is imagination, an eye for detail and the courage to improvise.
Recommendations for small productions
Make the most of your own resources - warehouses and offices often hold unexpected treasures that can be put to good use in production.
Play with light - light is the most powerful tool for visual storytelling. The right lighting can create the illusion of space and atmosphere.
Stick to authenticity - audiences can tell when something feels genuine. Brand authenticity and brand values have more impact than flashy backdrops.
Think motion - plan for reels and short videos in addition to still photos. People today perceive brands through dynamic content.
That's the kind of challenge we enjoy! When the ordinary becomes extraordinary. If you have one, drop us a line.
